Financial Knowledge was founded in 1989 as Financial Literacy Action Center. The purpose of the organization has always remained the same: to provide comprehensive financial education with complete objectivity - absent of any conflicts of interest by the firm, its principals, or its instructors.

Initially, basic financial lifeskills courses were developed, including the company's signature Money 101 and Investments 101 courses. Classes were targeted to professional organizations, including Kiwanis and Lions Clubs, Professional Secretaries International, and Soroptomist International. Conducting classes for business professionals through these public forums led to an overwhelming request to provide onsite courses within the workplace.

With the emergence of the internet and a shifting focus to offer more advanced levels of financial knowledge courses to employer organizations, the name of the company was changed to Financial Knowledge Network in 1996. An automated system was developed to process registrations and Financial Knowledge began offering webinars and webcast courses. During the dotcom IPO boom, Financial Knowledge established itself as the preferred provider of conflict-free stock option and employee stock purchase plan education.

Based on the need and demand from employers and member organizations in both the private and public sectors, Financial Knowledge has evolved into the only nationally accredited provider of over forty conflict-free financial education classes currently offered through the workplace. Financial Knowledge classes cover ten broad course categories: employee benefits, estate planning, financial management, investments, kids and college funding, portfolio management, real estate, retirement, stock plans, and taxes.

In the coming years, Financial Knowledge looks forward to providing greater access to its conflict-free financial education by offering all courses directly to the general public, in addition to the workplace.
